What is the motivation behind the Rejuvenation Retreat?

The idea for the Rejuvenation Retreat emerged during one of our monthly catch up calls (between Leanne and Nausheen). We have been chatting on a regular basis since graduation from the MSOD program, about our professional and personal journeys.

During one of these calls, we experienced a moment of alignment that resulted in the idea for this retreat!

It comes forth from our shared loves of: travel, living and working internationally, cultivating personal wellness, continued professional networking and development.

Why Sri Lanka, and how will the destination factor into the experience?

Sri Lanka is a very spiritual place, grounded in Buddhism (70% of population). The culture is friendly and open, yet also modest and conservative. People greet each other with palms in prayer position, saying ayubowan (wishing the other a long life).

We will absolutely be incorporating the culture and energy of our surroundings as part of our retreat gathering. Some examples of what this might include: guided meditation and yoga experiences, functional medicine consultations, cooking classes using local ingredients, art classes based in traditional practices, culturally significant excursions.

Further, tourism is an important contributor to Sri Lankaโ€™s economy. Our aim is to support locals in the tourism industry and beyond as much as possible we shape the final itinerary.

What might be goals for takeaways I could immediately apply back home? Will there be any prep work or a book to read ahead of time to get the most out of the retreat?

While this will be a shared, collective experience it will also be an individual one. Broader goals might include:

  • Develop or refine cultural competence in a different part of the world

  • Ground self by taking space from daily routines and environments, to focus on intentional self care

  • Reconnect with new and familiar friends, with both personal and professional contexts in mind

You might also have more specific goals around your professional development. This could range from networking with someone in particular, or beta-testing a new service offering before launching it on a wider scale. Please see more details in the section on programming, below.

As the retreat approaches, we will also provide guidance around optional prep work.
